Charles D. Achenbach

Charles D. Achenbach, 90, formerly of Hamburg, died February 14, 2013 at Stoneridge Poplar Run, Myerstown.

He was the husband of Hilda M. (Heinbach) Achenbach, also a resident of Stoneridge.

Charles was born in Auburn and was the son of the late John H. and Carrie M. (Welker) Achenbach. He was a 1942 graduate of Auburn High School and graduated from ICS in Scranton with an Associate Degree in Accounting.

Charles worked as a Production Control Manager for General Battery Corporation, Reading for 38 years retiring in 1986.

He was a former Boy Scout Leader and Cub Scout Master. He was also a former member of the Jaycees and enjoyed bowling in Hamburg leagues. As an avid golfer playing many courses throughout the U.S., he was especially proud of his hole in one.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by a son: Randall C., husband of Diane S. (Kissinger) Achenbach, Camp Hill, 2 grandsons: Derek R. Achenbach, husband of Jamie C. Wilson, Phoenix, AZ, Aaron D. Achenbach, husband of Kelly L. (Sonon) Achenbach, Reading, and a granddaughter, Amy L.(Achenbach) Weyant, wife of Scott A. Weyant, Mechanicsburg.

He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Camille and Penelope Achenbach, Kurt Achenbach, and Mason and Sydney Weyant.

Charles was predeceased by a brother Leon E. Achenbach and a sister Elda R. Moser.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home Inc., Hamburg, PA. Burial will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. There will be no calling hours.
